چکیده

Poor oral health is common in athletic populations. Salivary IgA has been reported to be decreased following bouts of intense exercise, but this may influenced part by status as plays an important role mucosal homeostasis. PURPOSE: Examine and salivary responses exercise elite college athletes. METHODS: Twenty-Division I collegiate female soccer players underwent a brief dental examination using the epidemiologic study: Decay, Missing, Filled Surfaces Index (DMFS). Subjects were separated into two groups based on DMFS score; High (>5) Low (DMFS ≤5). participated inter-squad scrimmage designed simulate high-intensity competitive exercise. samples collected prior immediately after scrimmage, placed ice until frozen at minus 800 C. (sIgA) levels determined duplicate standard ELISA kits. Exercise stress was assessed determining average maximal heart rate (HR), total distance covered, training (TS, session RPE x Time) during scrimmage. RESULTS: Athletes with high had higher decay (6.3 ± 1.3 vs 0.70 0.47), fillings (4.5 4.2 1.6 0.62), index (11 2.3 0.6) compared (p < 0.05). There positive relationship between resting sIgA (r2 = 0.26, p Whole group analysis revealed significant decrease pre (31.3 3.7 mg/dL) post (22.6 2.5 Furthermore, reduced (35.6 6.0 (22.5 2.8 0.05), while there no difference (Pre: 27.0 mg/dL Post: 22.7 4.3 > markers including HR (154 8 156 5 bpm), (208 210 covered (10 0.87 9.8 0.75 km), or TS (540 46 549 47) CONCLUSION: Poorer associated concentrations. poor risk for independent specific variables.
